The North County Recreation Picnic Pavilion is available to rent for Private Events including Family & Class Reunions, Graduation Parties, Retirement Parties, Memorial Gatherings, Birthdays, Showers, and other events.
The open-air soaring cathedral ceiling features beautiful, stained tongue and groove fir, giant wood beams, and rustic logs supporting the perimeter. Several half walls, full walls, and sliding walls help block wind and protect from inclement weather. The venue can host up to 275 guests with 3,650 square feet of space.
The Pavilion offers lovely, landscaped grounds, and a sweeping brick paver walkway leading to the foyer entrance lit up with two wrought iron Wagon Wheel chandeliers. Edison string lighting runs throughout for ambience, and the main entrance will soon feature a large water fountain with lighting. Tucked in the two corners on the west end of the Pavilion, there are two buffet counters with plug-ins, and a full built-in Bar featuring a “live-edge” wood bar, rustic corrugated metal siding, pendant lighting, and a built-in light up “Grease Board” for a “Special Drink” Menu.
Our beautiful event venue was built with all volunteer labor and funded with State & Local Grants, beginning in 2019. As a non-profit, all of the funds raised from the rental fees of the Picnic Pavilion go directly towards maintenance of the Youth Sports Complex and the equipment used to maintain the park. In 2023, over 660 children played sports at the Complex. We expect that number to rise as the population in the north end of Cowlitz County increases

Riverfront Trail – Trailhead is located at Lion's Pride Park and the North Trail head, however there are several other barrier free access points. Nonmotorized trail amenities include viewing areas, benches, picnic tables, ADA accessible. Trail areas are located on both sides of the Cowlitz River. On the east side of the river is a 1.7 mile lighted, paved multi-use trail extending from Lion's Pride Park north to just past the PHl0 bridge to the Castle Rock Sports Complex. The City of Castle Rock received the Association of Washington Cities 2004 Municipal Achievement Gold Medal Award in recognition of the Riverfront Trail Project.

Seaquest State Park is owned and operated by the State Of Washington. Seaquest State Park is a nature lovers retreat. Among the popular activities are bird watching (more than 13 species), mammal watching (more than 8 species including foxes and bears), sea and sea life watching in Silver Lake, tree identification (8 major species), wildflower identification (more than 10 native plant types) and visiting the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center. The visitor center is located across the highway from Seaquest State Park and is accessed via a tunnel that runs under the highway. At only 6.6 miles east of Interstate 5 (I-5), Seaquest is as easily accessible for an overnight stay as it is for a week long stay. Limited services and shopping is available in Castle Rock. Full services and shopping is available in Kelso. Open year round.
