The Children's Discovery Museum was founded in 2016 by a group of local friends who wanted to make a special and safe place for children and their families to play together. Children learn best through play and we encourage their accompanying adults to embrace their inner child and play too! The museum offers an interactive, hands-on play and learning environment for children of all ages. Our exhibits include the nature niche (microscopes, bugs, and other cool science stuff), a farm to market area equipped with fruits, vegies, a kitchen to “cook” in, and a dining area for serving up whatever their imagination has created. We have giant building logs, a doctor and dental office, dress-up, a bowling lane, our famous ping pong ball shower and much, much, more. Donations are welcome, but certainly not required, as entry to the museum is FREE!
Other helpful information to know:
Food & Drinks: Please limit snacks to finger foods and drinks must have lids that won't spill easily. There is limited street parking on Commerce Ave, but we do have parking in the lot behind the building.
We have small lockers where you can put anything valuable while you are at the museum. Just ask an attendant for a lock.
We have stroller parking inside the museum by both the front and back doors.
We have a lovely reading area where parents can read to their kiddos...many mothers use that area to breast-feed.
There is a "yuck bucket" by the toddler area for any toys that make the trip into your kiddo's mouth. We clean and disinfect our toys and materials regularly, so feel free to add to the bucket as needed.
We do not expect our guests to pick up every toy they use...you will see us roaming around doing that through-out the day. Of course, we appreciate it if you want to encourage your kiddo(s) to put toys and materials away when they're done, but it's not a big deal for us.
