Things to Do
Mount St. Helens is one of the wonders of the world.
It's More Than A Day
Mount St. Helens is the crown jewel of Southwest Washington and one of the many wonders of the world. Four world-class visitor centers - Johnston Ridge Observatory, the Forest Learning Center, Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center, and the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center at Silver Lake - each offer a unique part of the mountain's story. Spend the day viewing exhibits, interpretive stories, eruption videos and breathtaking views. Recreational activities are endless and include climbing, hiking, camping, biking, wildlife viewing, fishing, horseback tours, and hunting. Play a round of golf at one of the area's fine courses or explore a trail on the side of an active volcano. Be sure to treat yourself to a day of shopping at Three Rivers Mall in Kelso or the Triangle Center in Longview. Browse the antique stores in Kalama or the unique shops in historic downtown Longview.
Enjoy live shows presented by national acts at the historic Columbia Theatre or Thursday concerts during the summer on the banks of beautiful Lake Sacajawea. Take in the historic displays at the Cowlitz County Museum, the Castle Rock Exhibit Hall, and the Lelooska Foundation Museum. And when you’re ready for a break, you’ll have a full range of options, from fine dining to that specially brewed cup of espresso.
Stretch your legs with a walk along the Coweeman River at Tam O’ Shanter Park in Kelso, the Cowlitz on the Riverfront Trail in Castle Rock, or the Columbia at Marine Park in Kalama.
You won’t be able to do it all, but you can have fun trying!
