OPR Coastal Primate Sanctuary - Longview, WA
OPR Coastal Primate Sanctuary, located on a secluded 28
acre sanctuary in beautiful Longview, Washington. Safely
nestled among the fir trees and surrounded by nature,
this truly is a place where the monkeys feel at home!
OPR is a USDA licensed sanctuary. We are an independent,
501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was first
established on small acreage in Dallas Oregon in 1998.
Oregon Primate Rescue has adopted the name "OPR Coastal
Primate Sanctuary" due to our new location and not
wanting to appear geographically specific.
An unbelievably breath taking 28 acres surrounded by
evergreens, filled with the sound of birds twilling in
the distance, deer passing through the meadows each day,
and the sound of trickling water steering its way
through the frog filled ponds. This truly is heaven on
earth for the monkeys! A secluded safe haven where they
truly do feel at home!
Because OPR is a sanctuary, we are not open to the
general public. We do offer private educational tours by
appointment from April 1st through September 30th if
weather permits. We are closed in the winter because
monkeys do not like to go outdoors when it's cold &
visitors would not be able to see them from the tour
Our tour guides will escort you through the sanctuary
grounds and introduce you to each one of our resident
monkeys. You will hear the stories of how each monkey
came to OPR, and learn about each individual’s unique
personality. You will have an opportunity to ask any
questions you may have about monkeys in general. And you
will be amazed at the intelligence & social behavior of
these very special creatures.
Tour groups are offered for a minimum of 4 individuals
and a maximum of 20, and typically take 1-1/2 to 2
