Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center
Knowledge, Entertainment and Excitement!
Located 27 miles west of Interstate 5 on State Route 504, the Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center features a full-service restaurant, gift shop, exhibits, meeting and reception facilities, helicopter tours, a magnificent viewing deck, and a memorial grove dedicated to the victims of the May 18, 1980, eruption.
Hoffstadt Bluffs
The beautiful lodge-style structure was built in 1996, using massive timbers taken from the old Long-Bell mill in Longview. The facility was renovated in 2009 and is open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily, May through October. Bell Jet Ranger helicopter tours depart daily - weather permitting - taking passengers through the blast zone to the crater of Mount St. Helens
Fire Mountain Grill
The Fire Mountain Grill is open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily. Seating is available on the spacious deck, which provides stunning views of Mount St. Helens and the Toutle River Valley. Lunches include a wide range of delicious burgers, sandwiches, and salads, while the dinner menu features fine dining. Beer and wine are available.
The Gift Shop
The gift shop offers jewelry, clothing, books, glassware, and hundreds of other souvenirs. A comfortable lounge area includes plush leather sofas and chairs.
Exhibits
Exhibits include slideshows, photos, and scrapbooks that highlight pre-eruption days at Mount St. Helens. Camp Loowit, Mount St. Helens Lodge, Spirit Lake Camp, Mount St. Helens Ski Patrol, Spirit Lake Inn, and others are featured.
