Places to Go

It's More Than A Day!

Start your trip with the essential volcano experience on State Route 504 where four world-class visitors centers provide interpretive talks, displays, movies, and more about the stunning 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.

Then take advantage of the entertainment, cultural, dining, and shopping offerings in nearby Kalama, Kelso, Longview, Woodland, and Castle Rock – five visitor-friendly communities that are eager to add to your vacation experience.

If you enjoy recreation, you’ve come to the right place. Mountain bike on the side of the volcano at Ape Canyon. Enjoy a round of golf at one of three outstanding area courses. Picnic or camp at one of the county’s many parks. Fish for trout in an alpine lake, cast a line for salmon or steelhead in the Kalama, Lewis, or Cowlitz rivers, or try your luck with bass at Silver Lake.

When you visit Southwest Washington, you might run out of time, but you won’t run out of things to do.
