Cowlitz County Gateway to Mount St. Helens
Cowlitz County is home to approximately 101,996 residents, roughly 56 percent of whom live in the incorporated cities of Castle Rock, Kelso, Longview, Kalama, and Woodland. The remaining 44 percent live in rural, unincorporated communities such as Ryderwood, Toutle, Yale, Silver Lake, Lexington, Ariel and Cougar.
The county covers 1,144 square miles within the southwestern region of Washington. Once known as the “Timber Capital of the World,” Cowlitz County is home to Douglas fir, hemlock and western cedar trees that cover much of its rugged terrain.
Adjacent transportation corridors – including Interstate 5, the Columbia River and a major rail line – have allowed area businesses to access markets throughout the world. Following the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, tourism expanded rapidly and is now a major industry in Cowlitz County.

The Unique Tin car show and Cruise has become one of the premier car shows in the northwest. We are the second or third largest event in Cowlitz County and bring 500 or more classic and performance cars to the area every August. We provide a fun and profitable show for the local economy, give support to local charities and businesses, and manage to enjoy doing it. We hope to continue for years to come.

Cowlitz Public Shooting Range is open to all members of the public, providing shooters with a safe place to shoot rifles, pistols, shotguns and archery since it opened on May 1, 2013. From the beginning, the range has staffed its operations with volunteers, a practice that continues to this day.
NRA certified Range Safety Officers (RSOs) are on duty at all times the range is open to insure the safety and fun of our shooters, friends and their families. The volunteer work of the RSOs allows the Cowlitz Game & Anglers to provide an excellent outdoor shooting range experience to its users at a very affordable price.
The Range is offers free firearm training classes open to any and all interested persons. These are classroom sessions only, not range shooting, but the range will be open as usual for shooting after the classes.
